On Monday, May 27th at 2:44pm, Heather L. Thayer, loving wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, niece, cousin and sister, passed peacefully from this world, just as she would've wanted to; surrounded by many dear loved ones, at the age of 43.
Heather was born on February 4, 1976 in Providence to Deborah (Piuta) and Anthony Fallon. She played softball for Fairlawn Girls Sports for 8 years, often a pick for the All-Stars, and was recorded as hitting the 2nd longest recorded hit at Fairlawn Field. Heather worked for Twin's Pizza & Family Restaurant for 16 years, where she met some of her closest friends in life, including her beloved Buddy. Heather spent a career working in various food service and hospitality services, most recently Walt's Roast Beef in the bucket.
In 2006, Heather was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and endured 2 heart attacks. As a result of this, Heather struggled with weight management as her heart issues limited her. Heather was blessed to be under the care of Dr. Daniel Lavine who guided her to making key decisions for her heart health. Dan Lavine, Director of the advanced heart failure program at Rhode Island Hospital saved her life twice. First with an IED implant and then the Weight Loss surgery that changed her life for the best, she regained confidence and health like never before.
Heather had a passion for creating delicious food and feeding her many loved ones. For her nephew's first birthday, she prepared all the food, made the cake, served the guests, worried about serving times and schedules for the party and making sure everything went perfectly, so her loved ones could enjoy their son's 1st birthday. In 2013, her family rented a beach house on Topsail Island and Heather cooked for the entire family, a task she treasured until the day she left us.
Heather was pure love, always "Ok what can I do" or sending food because having a good meal was important during times of trouble. She was smart and sarcastic and funny and beautiful and lit up a room when she walked in and changed us all for having her love us.
Heather was preceded in death by her Memere and Pepere Piuta and Nana and Pop Fallon. She is survived by her loving husband Buddy, her mother Deborah of Lancaster, SC, her father Anthony of Cumberland, her beloved Uncle Bruce and his wife Ann Piuta of Mt. Holly, NC, her beloved Aunt Colleen and Uncle Joe Carson of Lancaster, SC, light of her life cousins Katie, Alex and Jillian Piuta of Charlotte, NC, cousin Michael Kinnane of New York City. Her nieces, Gianna McKeen, Charlotte LaRose and nephews Connor Ryan Ahern and Nicholas "Bubba" Ahern, her sisters that shared her life and love, her aunt Kerry Snyder of Plymouth County and her step sisters Keri, Colleen and 'little sister' Kim.
Services are to be held Saturday, June 1st at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI from 3:00 - 6:00p.m. to be followed by an Irish Wake at the Varnum Memorial Armory, 6 Main St., East Greenwich, RI. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to Heather's GoFundMe page at:
